What is inventory management software?

Not the stock in Excel, the real stock on the shelf.

Inventory management software records goods receipts into the warehouse, inter-warehouse transfers, issues for sales and production, and count differences. A warehouse management system (WMS) takes this down to the shelf, bin and location level, showing exactly where each product sits and the most efficient picking sequence.

The Eruca ERP Inventory and Warehouse module offers both together. Every movement made with a barcode handheld or phone updates stock quantities instantly; sales orders reserve stock, production draws materials, and purchase receipts enter stock. With lot, serial and expiry date tracking, every product's history is traceable.

What it brings to your warehouse
  • Stockouts and overstock both go down.
  • Count differences and missing items are found quickly.
  • Barcodes prevent picking and shipping errors.
  • Recalls by lot and serial number take minutes.
  • Inventory cost posts to accounting automatically.

Frequently asked questions about Inventory and Warehouse

What is the difference between inventory management software and a warehouse management system (WMS)?

Inventory management software tracks each product's quantity and movements per warehouse. A warehouse management system (WMS) takes this down to the shelf and bin level and manages put-away and picking sequences. Eruca ERP offers both levels in the same module.

How does barcode inventory tracking work?

Barcode labels are printed for products and shelves. Receipts, transfers, picking and counts are done by scanning barcodes with a handheld terminal or phone camera; every scan updates stock instantly.

What is lot and serial tracking?

Lot tracking means tracking products made in the same batch together; serial tracking means tracking each product by a unique number. In a quality issue, you can find which lot went to which customer within minutes.

When does Excel stop being enough for inventory tracking?

Once you need multiple warehouses, several users working at the same time, lot or serial tracking, and real-time sync with sales, Excel starts producing errors. At that point, moving to inventory software saves both time and money.

How is a stock count done?

In Eruca ERP you can plan a full count or a cycle count by specific shelves and product groups. Counting is done with barcodes, a variance report against system stock is generated, and differences are posted after approval.
